Edinburgh is an old city, with buildings 300, 400 and 500 years old. Butt is also very much a 19th century city. The rein of Queen Victoria, brought lot of attention and investment into the city, allowing them to expand beyond the traditional city walls.
New Town as it is referred to is north of the city, a lovely planned community filled with row after row of neat Victorian Buildings. It is a marked contrast to the cluttered, and somewhat chaotic old town area. Which I have to admit, I actually prefer.
