A former military base, prison and coast guard headquarters, Governor’s Island is now a tourist attraction.
Located just off the southern tip of Manhatten, the island is a quick ferry boat ride away. A lovely mix of parks and history.
Cruising by the island on the Staten Island Ferry, I caught this image of a schooner, which seemed as if it had slipped out of history to make an appearance in the late afternoon sun.
