On a wall alongside the French embassy you will see drawings of John Lennon.  It began right after his death in 1980.  At the time, The Czech Republic was comunist, and forbit songs about freedom and peace.  His music was banned, so you can imagine how hard they worked to prevent these images being painted on the wall.

Desipite multiple white washings, security cameras an even guards, the regime could not prevent the wall from being decorated over and over again. The Lennon Wall represented not only a memorial to John Lennon and his ideas for peace, but also a monument to free speech and the non-violent rebellion of Czech youth against the regime. It was a small war of Czech people against the communist police who cleaned the wall.image
