I am a city girl. I grew up thinking milk came from a machine on the corner, and vegetables were manufactured in the grocery store, so I love farmer’s markets. In the summer, there are so many good ones in the Indy area to choose from.
One of my favorites is the Broad Ripple Market on Saturday Mornings. A mixture of food, music, dogs and kids it is a great way to spend an hour and find something terrific to make for dinner.
The market isn’t just for people. Dogs are an integral part of this Farmer’s market. This is Lady, who was clearly enjoying the morning as much as I was!
I enjoyed reading your blog.
We are a part of Greenwood Farmer’s Market and we love Saturday mornings too at our market. It’s fun to meet so many people in our town. You get to know your neighbors because you spend time talking to them about so many of same interest.
We kind of miss having the dogs at our market but we had people who let their dogs smell the baked goods and then put them back on the tables. We also had people who let their dogs lift their legs on the produce so we were always having to watch the dogs because the owners never thought their dogs would do something like that! Greenwood has a no dog policy now and but we have to protect our customers.
Hope you will come spend a Saturday morning with us sometime, we would love to have you. Our vendors have to produce their own products or in a few instances our produce has to be Indiana grown. Either way it is clearly marked for our customers. If you do come visit, please stop by the honey booth and say hello.
Thx for sharing info about your market. I will defiantly let you know if I make it down to the south side.
I understand your issue with the dogs. Don’t you hate when a few people fusion irt for everyone?
