I love random sculptures which seem a little out of place. They make you stop and look around. This one sits on a corner of Mainstreet in Carmel.
It is an odd contrast to some of the quaint buildings on one side, and the modern ones hoping to be quaint on the other. But it gives character to the space. It is so close, you have to stop and look at, and I do, every time I walk by.
Indy and the surrounding areas need more public art. The sculptures in the parks downtown demonstrate that the city once understood the benefit of public art. We need to do that once again, and fun or serious pieces in unexpected places helps.
