Farmer’s markets are abundant this time of year, and while the tomatoes are all the same, the markets themselves are very different.   I shared a few of my favorite photos from Broad Ripple’s market not too long ago, but this past weekend, I had a chance to drop by Carmel.  It was fun, but with a more upscale feel.

Held on the grounds of the Palladium, it is a lovely setting for the market.  There is wonderful produce and other products including sauces, oils, honey, soap, candy sticks, candles, plants and flowers.  There are  even several choices of breakfast treats including waffles and smoothies made with fresh berries to enjoy as you stroll but the whole thing is just a little too tidy for my taste.

My favorite item is available at both markets – Nicole Taylor’s Pasta.  So far I have tried several and my favorite is the red pepper. I served it with the grilled peppers, onions and eggplant I bought at the market.  It was a fabulous base for a pasta primavera with just a little olive oil and fresh parmasean cheese.  I will be looking for more this weekend.
